Chapter 3: You Don’t Have to Be a Saint

Chapter 3 of Remember Me

Remember Me cover

Let’s get this out of the way early:

You are allowed to lose your temper.

You are allowed to cry in the bathroom. You are allowed to fake a smile, forget the meds, snap at your sister, or take the long way home just to be alone for five minutes.

You do not need to be a saint to be a good caregiver.

The World Will Make You Feel Like You Should Be

You’ll hear things like:

“You’re doing God’s work.”

“I could never do what you do.”

“They’re lucky to have you.”

And maybe those things are true.

But on your worst day, they feel like pressure.

Like you’re supposed to be calm, wise, and glowing while someone forgets who you are in real time.

Here’s the truth:

You are not doing this because you’re perfect.

You’re doing this because you care.

And caring is not the same as never getting tired of caring.

Here Are Things You’re Allowed to Feel:

You’re allowed to feel all of that — and still be doing a good job.

Let’s Say This Together:

“I am not a saint.

I’m a human doing my best in a loop that keeps breaking.”

Say it again. Say it with coffee. Say it when you’re exhausted.

Say it so you believe it.

If no one else tells you today:

You’re doing enough. Even if you yelled. Even if you gave them toast for dinner. Even if you took a nap instead of folding the laundry.

You’re here.

You stayed.

That counts more than gold stars ever could.

💡 Solace Tip:

“Caregivers who loop with grace get messy sometimes.

Saints don’t last. Humans do.”
